zadokk Thank you, looking forward to the updates.

Goldan I'm quite mitigated on this one. In case you didn't notice they are polish and they are on the front row of what's happening right now and it's really inhumane. A game should stay a game and what's happening out should not interfere in any way but at the same time Russia is a fascist regime right now (check for characteristics on: https://www.britannica.com/topic/fascism/Opposition-to-parliamentary-democracy) and unfortunately too many Russian are supportive of Putin's rethoric (which might be your case as you felt offensed by medicus statement). I can understand you felt offended as it was a rather indiscriminating statement but you can consider they're seeing too much atrocities to keep it for themselves. Maybe a rematch with no pact and no chat could be the solution here. But playing the offended card when an onslaught is going on seems illegitimate to me. If anyone wanna talks about propaganda or discuss russian war, add me in a game or whatever but we should keep this forum from straying too much from the awesome and completely harmless goal of zadokk. War and aggressions should stay in game.

@Goldan @Medicus: this tournament is neutral on this topic. I am against war myself, but please keep this out of the tournament. It is a very sensible topic which I do not want to touch here. If needed, I will remove the flags and nationalities in the Google Doc. For your case, I propose a rematch, and in case you do not want to play again, i will end this game as a draw...so both parties gets 1 point. . In case you do not agree, I would like you to step out of this tournament to keep the peace here at least. Regards, zadokk

zadokk I am also against war, and this topic is extremely sensible for me, as you can imagine. TTA is absolutely not the place where I'd want to discuss any of that. I didn't say anything in the game chat.
I'm fine with the draw, I don't want to play with them again. I'd like to continue playing in the tournament.

However, I do think that there should be a clear policy regarding such behavior. I see two options:
      1) We ban players from Russia from participating in the tournament. Some sports organizations have done that. I personally think it is the wrong thing to do, but I can understand some logic behind that.
      2) We welcome players from all countries, keeping it neutral, and don't touch this subject. Then we shouldn't tolerate any verbal abuse like what Medicus has posted. I hope everyone agrees that being called a "Russian killer" and "stop killing people" is a harassment, especially in times like this. Then it should result in a ban from the tournament or at least a hard warning. If anyone else does something like this, they should be banned.

The "middle ground" position similar to what @Runawaaayyy stated, which I understand as "all players are welcome, let's keep it neutral, but it's okay to harass Russians because they have a fascist regime, and people understandably can't keep it for themselves. Don't play the offended card and just do a rematch", is absolutely insensitive.

I'll add you ingame so we can discuss "harrassing" and "insensitivity" in an appropriate place 😉

Runawaaayyy Sure. I just tried to start a private discussion on the forum, but for some reason the dropdown couldn't find your (or any) nickname, so looks like that feature is broken.

admin Hello, just to inform, one of our opponents has timed out. Group 44 game 1.

Goldan Hi Goldan, I really think you are right. I prefer option 2. And the attitude of Medicus is not the way to go. I will try to have a chat with him. It is indeed a form of harrasment.

          GAM3NURD I hope we'll end up with 8 teams for a top 8 after round 7... :-)

zadokk Thank you for your understanding, really appreciate. I hope we can all play (and live) in peace.

Hello, is there any way to limit reserve time or maybe start a new round when 80% players have already finished( ongoing matches are draws for the pairing for example) i don't understand how group 4 can be at 54% after so many days. This is going to take a year for 8 games

Meerclar Hi, Thanks for your concern. This is something I have to take with me for second season. Let's see how we can speed up the tournament. Probably Fast Async or less reserve time. For this season, I cannot change the pace, since some people subscribed with this pace in mind. So keep the patience. Probably we will indeed play about 7 months for the Swiss and then the top 8.
But it would be great to receive feedback from the community.

As seen at the other tournaments, one stage (game) usually takes 35-40 days to complete at this speed. So you can do the math how much will 8 stages take.

If you want a lot of players to join the tournament, keep this speed as obviously many people just can't find the time to login more often to play their moves. But in this case, you will probably need to change the playing system as you will only have one season per year.

If you want faster pace (fast async), you will lose many players, but people that play faster will not have to wait for a month before they start their next game.

All ends up on how you originally imagined this tournament to go. I'm personally for faster pace, but I'm not sure that this is the case with majority of the players.

*** If you wanna review the playing system for the next season, I'm happy to help if you need any 🙂

ElChupacabra tx for the feedback. Indeed let's brainstorm how we can improve it for next seasons. We can learn from this first one. Let's keep what is good, let's improve what can be better!

BTW, personally I like the pace. No stress to make moves. And for me a yearly team tournament is fine. It's fun to play once in a while as a team. I also play TTA Orchestra which is fast async, and that stresses me sometimes (quite busy life). But let's see what the community likes...

I'm up for accelerating the pace a bit by reducing the reserve time.

In my opinion, it's not really comparable with other major tournaments

                  • considering it's only one game per stage (unlike 6 or 7 with other tournaments),
                  • and it's a 4 player game, so by the time it comes back to you it's likely that approximately a day has gone by.

In the end, it's not so time consuming.
I just finished a game where it was so long that it was frustrating. You tend to forget your general strategy and waste time putting the pieces back together at every single turn.

But I understand that people signed up for a defined set of rules and settings, and changing midway might be forceful.

Hello Zadokk, I think there has been a mistake in how the points were distributed. In the game in the first stage my teammate Magnetiseur and I played against Xterm and Netrum. In age 2 Xterm gave up. The rules say that if one player of a team gives up the other team instantly wins. Because Magnetiseur and I considered the game to be over I kind of allowed my time to run out because I was very busy and as mentioned, thought we won anyways. Now our team has zero points. Is that a mistake or did I misunderstood the rules? If you want, you can ask Xterm about the resign, he seemed to be an honest and fair player. Also he is fourth place and I am third, so you can see that he gave up before I did, by leting my time run out.
I still want to say thank you for organising this great tournament. For me it is perfect that you don't have to play that often, but still constantly.

Reallaurin Hi, Now I see it. That is quite complicated for me to follow up every game. So maybe it is good to play it out in the future or that the other player also resigns. I'll change the scoring in this case. tx for mentioning. Keep on enjoying this game!

Andrew Davidson and I (Stripe999) have won our first two games in the tournament, but we see we're not listed in the results page yet. What should we do to record the results?
