A bug happened at Group E Game 12, where after I seeded age III an event, the event deck revealed and resolved the "Crime Wave". At that moment, I was forced to exit the app (I was playing on mobile. After that, the game was forced to exit everytime I clicked into the Game 12.

Tried several times on mobile and PC, the problem is still there.

FFAZ I was expecting the timeout because I did not hear back from tech support - I suspect they are busy on the weekends. The game crashes for me too so I think the game will just be paused for now and it's OK while we wait. I'll let support know to reinstate you back into the game instead of the bot, after crime wave is revealed.

If I resigned before a player was timed-out, am I considered 3rd or 4th place?

Amitke I would consider it 3rd place for you. The way the system does the standings, I noticed that if a player times out, that player will not receive pts, but their culture result is still considered in determining 1st-4th. With a timeout, the other 3 players aren't necessarily playing for 1st, 2nd, 3rd pts - they still have to end up with more culture than the timed out player to earn any pts. I don't agree with this, I think the timed out player should always have 0 pts and 4th place, and leave 10 pts available for the other 3 players in a 4p game. I would have to manually fix the standings in my personal spreadsheet. However not everyone is doing it manually and they may still be using the standings on the websites to decide tourney tactic plays, and this defeats the purpose of having quick and easy standings to look at, so I will have to email tech support to see if they can change this formatting. I hope this makes sense, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions

Starting after Season 3, I will switch to the format I see in other tournaments, where the top player in the standings gets promoted, and the bottom two get relegated, and there's exponentially more groups in lower rankings as relegation occurs. I see why it is so great - it is just more efficient in climbing up the ranks faster - this way, a new high ranking player could climb to the top group after just 2 or 3 seasons. There are more groups than I anticipated, and the current linear ladder format I have can be unattractive or not motivating for someone to start at the bottom. I will likely have to create a new tournament to change the description and rules, but I will still recognize the best performances based on this Season 3 rules and award accordingly for the next tournament. It will always be all 4p games and same number of games :-)

fugg I resolved this in the Orchestra by promoting some league winners by two leagues instead of one. And I doubled all ranks. There is always someone dropping out, so you have some room to promote exceptional players a bit faster.

Sorry, I didn't notice the tournament schedule when I joined. I don't think these fast tournaments are a good idea with players from around the world because it seems that most of the people in my group make moves when I'm sleeping and my reserve time is getting dangerously low. I know this is on me for sign up for this tournament, but in the future I'd recommend making it clear where players are coming from around the world if they're going to play in such a short fast paced game.

Noash I'm sorry this happened to you. This format is not for everyone, and not desired by everyone. I think you may have been unlucky to have everyone in your group to have a different time zone. You are correct in that I should warn about this possibility.

Jorrig Oh interesting. I will reconsider my plan to change. You are right in that some players can be promoted faster, I just wasn't sure how fast that can be if there are quite a lot of groups and I don't double the ranks. In Season 2 I let the new players with best Glicko ratings to fill in missing seats and let them skip the New Groups. In Season 3, instead I let the New Group winners fill in the missing seats, and for new players I sorted by Glicko rating and use a snake draft format to create the New Groups A-H. But you are correct that I can arbitrarily let players cut the line a lot based on performance, and would let higher Glicko rating players cut the line as well. I think I should see for a while how that works out.

fugg I think that in these semi-serious tournaments all that counts is matching players with similarly skilled other players and provide them with some feed of challenging games. As of yet, no one has complained playing in the Orchestra. 🙂
