As someone who started in Wood a year ago, and managed to fight my way up to Gold right now, I think it is not in the spirit of the tournament to put players in higher leagues just like that. If there is an open spot in a division, I would always give that spot to one of the players on the 2nd (, 3rd, etc.) position of the next division, who has probably fought for many seasons to get to that position. Yes, the early participants had an advantage, and I personally regret I did not find the tournament earlier, but I feel that playing for many seasons should be rewarded.
